Truth is an idea in which everyone believes but few practice. ‘Sachaai’ is the story of two friends who set out in search of a way of happiness, one by adhering to Truth and the other by trying to get rich quick.

Ashok and Kishore are these two friends. After passing their graduation, they have to face life. Kishore is the son of a corrupt official who is soon arrested on charges of bribery. The family is thrown out of their palatial residence which they can no longer afford. Kishore is unable to live by honest means and is forced into a life of crime. He is parted from his family and his mother and sister Shobha. Shobha takes up a job as a dance teacher and supports herself and her mother.

In the meanwhile, Ashok, after a bried encounter with a carnival group who induce him to join their racket, starts making easy money in any eay he can. But in an unexpected twist of fate, he hurts Shobha’s mother in a truck accident and decides to repent for his bad deeds. He looks after Shobha and her mother and soon Ashok and Shobha are in love. Ashok turns a new leaf in his life and joins the police force as an Inspector.

But now the two friends meet again under a statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

It is a strange re-union. Ashok is now happy, loving Shobha and trying to perform his duty honestly as a police inspector. But Kishore—what has he become?

In the dramatic encounter between the two friends and their conflicting ideologies, “SACHAAI” presents a timely and significant theme for the Indian nation.
